The world is constantly evolving. We are constantly evolving. And with the agility always comes a passion: the change. People around the world are questioning their own values and rethinking the way they can live everyday life more consciously.
BMW group made, with the BMW i series, a particularly worthwhile instance of progress towards a conscious and innovative development. BMW i finds its origin in the year of 2007 and in the project “i”. The “concept car” itself in addition to a lot of decades of knowledge in the car industry field have been questioned in the process, facing the need of brainstorming in order to develop a forward-looking mobility concept. As a fully electric vehicle, it is still odor and emission free. But to obtain a sustainable world, being emission free is not enough.
The sustainable development at BMW isn’t just a word. It is our primary guideline. This is why we designed the BMW i3 entire value chain in a responsible way: Thus, the development and the production of BMW i3 are based on the principle of maximum preservation of resources. For the BMW i3, we have equipped our plant of Leipzig with wind turbines in order to generate green electricity from wind. We have also reduced the production energy needs by 50% compared to the already low energy consumption of other BMW models. At the same time, water consumption was reduced by 70%. Carbon fibers, from which the ultra-light cabin was made, is manufactured using 100% of renewable energy.
With the BMW i, this evolution leads for a new era where, for the first time ever, the car is entirely developed for a sustainable mobility. Thus, the BMW i3 is more than a vehicle. It is evidence that driving pleasure and responsibility complete each other perfectly. It is time to move forward, and to experiment a new kind of driving pleasure.
