LNUP is a komune of dedicated comrades brought together through love for the ocean, nature and premium creation.
They handcraft eco-friendly footwear, clothing and accessories, supporting the people living around the tropical beaches in Lombok, that changed their lives.
It´s this constant itching of wanting to be out there. No matter if on cars, bikes, planes, busses, boats and our bare feet, exploration is our passion.
That´s what brought us to Indonesia.
Apart from the best waves in the world, it was the people´s happiness, their joy and their gratitude for the little but important things in life that made us scout this paradise archipelago beyond the surface.
And we were happy to discover that besides virgin beaches and enchanted landscapes, Indonesia is home of an incredibly rich culture of artisanary knowledge and traditional craftmanship.
But as usual by digging deeper more and more darker sides of the apperently heaven on earth appeared.
In the case of Indonesia we face one of the most tragic developments in deforestation, air and water pollution as well as coastal building development.
All of this is happening in the middle of the coral triangle, the most diverse marine area on earth and home to countless still untouched surfbreaks and beaches that need your support and protection. The goal of LNUP is to strengthen the financial independence of families holding crusial beachfront land in Lombok and to maintain century old and eco friendly artisanary knowledge in Java, Bali and Lombok through fair trade.
Their work and the connected income strengthens not only their role in the Muslim families but enhance their self esteem and gives especially mothers with their young children the possibility to work at home instead of spending incredibly hot hours on the rice and soya fields.
With our jewelry, all buttons and logo plates that are handcarved from natural buffalo horn, we try to rise the income of the farmers of the magical and world famous beach of Bangko Bangko aka Desert Point, one of the longest barrelling waves on this planet.
As we witnessed in various other places the integration of the local community into ecological projects that also feature a financial benefit in exchange for their participation seems the most effective way to rise awareness and ambition for being part of a sustainable future.
