At age 75, she became the oldest to ever complete an Ironman and, at 82, she set the world record as the oldest Ironman triathlon competitor — male or female. I had the privilege to meet and interview Sister Madonna at age 78 in New York. As a catholic nun from Spokane, Washington, she was not only dedicating her life to her religious life but also made history in the running scene. At 52 she ran her first race, soon after she completed a marathon in less than 3 1/2 hours. Since then she has participated in 45 Ironman races and over 300 triathlons throughout the world. This is episode 15 of my interview series LIFE Voices (length: 13:07 min).
Below you also find the full interview with Sister Madonna (length: 41:45min).
And here is a more recent article on her in the English Mirror: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/86-year-old-sister-dubbed-8643674
